Scholarships
Youth musicians are an important part of the MSO whānau. In recognising and fostering talented youth musicians, a number of scholarships are available each year.
The scholarships offer
- Up to $750 towards instrumental tuition
- Opportunity to play in at least two MSO concerts in 2022
- Mentoring by experienced and/or professional musicians at rehearsals
- MSO membership for one year
- A valuable ‘taste’ of orchestral playing alongside other musicians.
As Manukau’s orchestra, preferences are given to Manukau/South Auckland applicants. However, deserving applications from outside this region will also be considered.
The scholarships have been kindly sponsored by Phil and Helen Greenbank, and the Stringed Instrument Company.
How to apply
- Complete a scholarship entry form
- Email completed form to MSO by the due date (see entry form)
Successful applicants will be notified by email by 22 November 2021. Due to gathering restrictions this year, successful applications will be announced to the public at our first concert in 2022. Funds towards tuition will be paid directly to the tutor or music school.
